I know I'm not the only FMA practitioner who does this...
When a new shipment of sticks come in, I have to sift through the entire pile to find the one that feels just right. The right weight, the right diameter, the right texture. It all has to be just right or else it's a deal breaker.
After a while you get know your stick. Picking up a different one feels weird.
As my teacher would say, "You don't choose the stick - the stick chooses you!"
